V.G.C.A NEWS AUGUST '98

Membership/Program

This month's meeting will be on the 27th at the NRA. The program will be presented by Gene Burkholder, who if you recall, had a splendid display on Savage 99 rifles. So dust off your 99s and bring them in for the program and show and tell. I will NOT be sending out a newsletter in September. As you know, the SHOW will take the place of the membership meeting in September. I think the program for October will be an after hours tour of the new museum at the NRA . Doug and Phil will be leading us through the magnificent displays. Don't miss this meeting. We will combine November and December's meetings as usual. The date for this combined meeting will Dec 3. If you have any ideas or suggestions about a program for this meeting, contact Mo or me.

The Show on Sept 12-13

The show is sold out and we have a waiting list for tables. We need help on Friday setting up. We need help manning the door. Please lend a hand on this by manning the front table to check the incoming guns. See Gary or Ernie and sign up for an hour or so of this most important duty. John Wallace will be heading up security. Gary will need help on the Show Committee. We will need judges so see Mo about that if your are interested in helping there. Gary will have the camera there to make ID badges for all new members. We need help in shutting down on Sunday afternoon too. New members, here is a chance to help the club. The shows generally run smoothly but more hands make less work. Set up on Fri will probably begin at noon. The show closes at 4 on Sunday. The tables need to be folded up and put away and the floor swept.

New Members

Please make the following new members welcome: The Hon. Vance Wilkins Jr.; Richard Palmer: L. King Von Schilling; Carlos Davila; Shelly Fischman. Hope to see you all at the show. New members, dues are $15.00 a year or life membership is $90.00. Mail dues to Ed Costello at the address listed above. Sick Bay Report

Hal Johnson in recovering from open heart surgery. Hal get well soon and we hope you can soon be attending the meetings. I surely do miss your stories and your thoughts on firearms, the USMC, and other interesting things.

Mo's Loss of his Mom

Mo lost his mother recently. We had a moment of silence in her memory at the last meeting. We all extend out deepest sympathy to Mo and his family in this time of sorrow.
